Lets Have a Laugh.
We are very lucky in our family, my husband, my kids Dad, has a great sense of humour. A lot of the time the kids reaction is “Oh Dad seriously?” but they love it.
Whether it’s yelling out to the kids “Chicken, come and get your chicken dinner” every night even if we aren’t having chicken. Creating silly waves with our daughter, inventing silly songs or pronouncing words in a funny voice their Dad has brought a lot of laughter to our family.
Parenting is a serious business, Parents have to feed, cloth and educate their kids. As Parents we bounce at the rate of an Olympic athlete between making dinner, Laundry, transporting the kids to clubs and sports practices to name just a few.
Taking the time and opportunity to laugh with our children creates a simple way for us to connect. Those family jokes and funny family stories that get funnier with every retelling bond families, making connections stronger and strengthening family relationships. Laughter is an important Parenting tool and is one of the best things we can do for our children’s development.
Laughing with our children makes them smarter, healthier and more resilient. As Parents, laughing with our children is one of the best things we can do for their development.
We all know the health benefits of laughter, it relieves stress, reduces anxiety, stimulates heart and lungs, improves blood pressure, increases endorphins, boosts the immune system and relieves pain. Laughter however is also a key aspect of emotional intelligence. Humour allows children to see things from a different perspective and to look at the world in a different way. Being able to laugh and have a sense of humour helps children have self confidence and make friendships, as laughter is a great way of engaging with others.
By laughing with our kids we show them how they can influence and inspire others. This reinforces their positive self image, boosts their confidence and reassures them that they add value to their family and to the world at large.
Laughing with our children is a good opportunity to teach kids to be positive with their laughter. Parents can teach children how to keep humour kind and the importance of making sure everyone can laugh together. That laughing at the expense of others, such as laughing at people’s appearance, isn’t a kind thing to do. Parents can approach difficult subjects with Laughter, when things make us laugh we are less stressed and deal with things more positively.
